After a wild week in college football the BCS rankings are still the same at the top, but the bottom half is brand new, as Alabama and Florida State remain in the top two spots, while Ohio State and Auburn are ranked third and fourth ahead of Missouri wrapping up the top five and now there are just a couple more weeks for teams to try and move into national championship position.
Auburn moving up makes the Iron Bowl against Alabama even more interesting, while Ohio State is undefeated and is in third place with the Big Ten championship looming along with a matchup against Michigan. The Iron Bowl is now the next top game in college football, as that puts two top five teams up against each other in Alabama and Auburn and that will be before the SEC championship game, which is expected to be another tough matchup for either the Crimson Tide or the Tigers. Ohio State hasn't lost in nearly two years and they will be looking for someone to slip up ahead of them as they move along the rest of the season with a short amount of time left.
The biggest things for OSU is that the points lead over Auburn is a wide one and while they are behind FSU by a bit, it isn't enough that they can't make up and while the Seminoles moved closer to Alabama, all Nick Saban needs to do is win out. Baylor fell out with their loss on Saturday and now Auburn's best chance at anything will be to beat Alabama and that will be tough test, although the game will be at home. Missouri rounds out the top five and with Baylor out of the way, that makes three SEC teams in the top five and with Ohio State facing Michigan State in the Big Ten title game, which could be a huge deal for Urban Meyer as time goes on towards the national championship.
Oregon and Clemson both dropped again and Stanford comes in moving up one position ahead of their game against Notre Dame and that comes before the Pac-12 championship, which will have Arizona State playing against the Cardinal for the conference. On top of that, Northern Illinois moved up and went ahead of Fresno State and now those two teams will try and maneuver their way into a BCS spot by remaining undefeated.
Prediction: Alabama and Florida State make it into the national championship
Ohio State gets the next best bowl and Auburn falls out of top five after losing Iron Bowl.
