The college football bowl season is almost here and that makes the back stretch of the season very exciting for fans and teams and here is a look at some of the top bowl games in the BCS and around the NCAA and some picks, predictions and projections for teams making it in.

This year there is plenty of excitement at the top of the BCS with Alabama, Florida State, Baylor, Ohio State and Oregon looking to get into the national title game and right now it looks like the Crimson Tide and the Seminoles will match up, leaving the Buckeyes and Bears out in the cold. Those teams will still be set for BCS bowls, but everyone is looking to get to the national championship.

The bowl season has expanded more and more each season and this year there are 70 spots for teams to slide into for bowl games and there are already 65 eligible ones around the nation that have reached six wins and that leaves some spots open for teams to get into. Let's check out some of the bowl eligible teams and how the conferences are shaking up heading into the final stretch of the season.

The American Conference has six games that teams can tie into and right now they have four eligible, with Rutgers and SMU looking to get to six wins and into bowl games. If any conference doesn't get enough of its teams into the bowl tie ins, those games will get lost for those teams. The ACC has eight tie in games and with Florida State likely playing in the national championship or another BCS game, that means Syracuse and North Carolina have chances, as the conference already has eight eligible teams. The Big 12 has seven tie ins, six teams eligible and none on the cusp, so that is mostly set as well.

The Big Ten has eight bowls and seven eligible and with the way some teams have been playing, the conference likely will lose one or two, as Michigan State and Ohio State could both be in the BCS, with the Buckeyes definitely getting in there. Conference USA has two teams that cane make it and six of six have already done it and the other conferences in the MAC and the Mountain West also have a handful of teams that can make up the final five spots.

Main Prediction: Alabama beats Florida State in the BCS National Championship.
