Oct 25, 2013 07:10 PM EDT

The New York Knicks made it into the second round of the playoffs last season with a great performance from Carmelo Anthony and while the team lost in the second round to the Indiana Pacers, the team felt that it turned a corner and now they have their home debut at Madison Square Garden for the final preseason game and it will be on at 7:30 pm and will be on TV on the MGG Network on Friday night against the Charlotte Bobcats.

The Knicks feel that they have put together a roster that can make a championship run and with Anthony coming off of a scoring title, he is expecting to get far this year before possibly heading into free agency and while that is still a summer away, you know the NY media will not keep off of it and the best way for the Knicks to keep Melo is to make it to the finals. The team added and brought back a number of players and many predict the team is better than last season, but it could be tougher to win the division now that the Brooklyn Nets are much improved and with Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce in the fold, things sure should be interesting. MSG has a billion dollar makeover to show off and the Barclays Center and the Garden will be going at all season back and forth.

Check here for the Knicks and Bobcats preseason coverage from the NBA.

The East is all gunning for the Miami Heat and after winning two straight championships and making it to three straight finals, everyone in the east known that to win the conference they will have to go through LeBron James and company to do it. This season the Heat have reloaded with Greg Oden and while they lost Mike Miller they still have pieces that can score and the toughness factor will still be there with fan favorite Chris Andersen and Dwayne Wade is expecting to come back much healthier than he was last season. The Heat are the biggest challengers to the Knicks and everyone else and no one can say they are the favorite over Miami until they beat them.

The Knicks will be one of the top teams in the East and the Indiana Pacers are much improved after trading for Luis Scola and signing back David west and after taking the Heat to seven games, they should be even stronger. Danny Granger is coming back from an injury, while Lance Stephenson, Paul George and Roy Hibbert are all very talented and they will be tough to beat. The Brooklyn Nets obviously will be better this season and there are also talented teams like the Chicago Bulls, who are getting back Derrick Rose and the Pistons could even be a force after trading for Brandon Jennings and signing Josh Smith as a free agent.

The Knicks come back with a top 10 scoring defense this season and after losing to the Bucks, the team is 2-4 in the preseason and they will face the 4-3 Bobcats to finish it off. The team plays the bucks to open the season and in the preseason they won over the Wizards and Celtics, but lost games to Boston, Toronto twice as well as the Bucks. After the opening game, the team plays against the Bulls on the road and then is back home against the Timberwolves and Bobcats again.
