NFL Standings Week 3: Kansas City Chiefs Surprise 3-0 Team Means NFL Playoffs With Jamaal Charles, Alex Smith and Andy Reid?

The Philadelphia Eagles offense started out the season fast with a victory over the Redskins on Monday night football, but after playing the Chiefs in the Thursday game in Week 3, Philly is now 1-2 and Andy Reid is 3-0 after his Kansas City squad defeated his old team.

Reid took over the Chiefs this offseason after being fired from the Eagles after a decade and now he has one of the top teams in the NFL and the only 3-0 team until Sunday when some other clubs can match that record. Reid knew that the homecoming could be emotional, but after getting the win he said he was pleased with the performance and that is felt "different" after being on the other sidelines for so long.

Michael Vick was never able to get comfortable on Thursday, as the Chiefs defense continued to go after him and the quarterback eventually got injured on his ankle, but afterwards said it was not an issue. Kansas City already has a better record than they did last season at 2-14 and now they are in a position to put themselves in the playoff hunt. The Broncos like will win the West division after starting off 2-0 as well and going 13-3 last season, but there is no reason why the Chiefs can't make it.

The NFL is a league where worst to first is possible and common and one where new teams make the playoffs each season at a consistent rate. The Chiefs would be the second consecutive team to make the playoffs after getting the number one pick in the draft and the team is looking good on offense so far through three games, with Alex Smith managing things well for Reid in his new scheme for the team and it also has benefitted Jamaal Charles at running back.

Smith finished the game with over 270 yards passing and no touchdowns, but he didn't turn the ball over and he connected with Charles on seven catches for 80 yards and also with Donnie Avery for seven catches and 141 yards. The team got 92 rushing yards out of Charles and he was one of the main reasons why the team won and likely will be one of the main reasons they end up making the playoffs....if they make it.
