NY Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays Live Stream: Watch Online MLB Game Streaming

The New York Yankees are still hanging in the wild card race despite getting knocked around by the Boston Red Sox over the weekend and with a 79-71 record on the year, they are just 2.5 games back of the Texas Rangers and with Cleveland, and Baltimore ahead, the team has to basically win out to try and save their postseason chances.

The Yankees have been banged up all season and have not had the pitching they thought they would coming into the year, especially with CC Sabathia, who was supposed to be the ace but instead he has pitched like a middle of the rotation starter and that has been a huge issue for the team. The offense has gone hot and cold way too much this season and while the addition of Alfonso Soriano helped spark things over the past month, it hasn't been enough to propel the Yankees into a wild card spot.

The toughest thing for the Yankees right now is the fact that there just simply aren't that many games left on the schedule and any loss could be a crippling one. In the standings, the Yankees are just 2.5 games out, but that could still be too much to overcome, as the Rays, Rangers, Orioles and Indians have all been playing better baseball lately. The Indians are just .5 games out of the wild card after a strong week and the Orioles have seemingly refused to give up and are just two games out.

The Yankees are currently tied with the Kansas City Royals in the standings and they have had a better season than the franchise has had in years. The Yankees have dealt with more injuries than people can count on one hand this season, as at various times, Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Curtis Granderson, Mark Teixeira and Travis Hafner have all been on the DL and Jeter has barely played since trying to come back from that ankle injury he suffered in the playoffs last season, hitting the list multiple times. Jeter has already been shut down for the rest of the year and all the hope for the Yankees now has to be on the game each day, as all they can do is win to stay alive.

Andy Pettitte will be on the mound for the Yankees on Tuesday night against the Toronto Blue Jays and they need him to turn in an old school start, as they will be in a very tough situation if they lose again. The team is counting on Pettitte to keep them in the game and he comes in 10-9 on the season with a 4.00-plus ERA and the last time the two teams played, he was the one on the mound to get the win.

Robinson Cano has been the best offensive player not named Soriano during the season and he is having another solid year while hitting .310 with 27 home runs and 103 RBIs. If the Yankees miss the playoffs, their biggest concern and priority will them switch to Cano, as he is set to be a free agent after the season and the team most likely wants to try and keep him. President Randy Levine has said that he is not a sign at all costs player, but if the team lets him go, that could be devastating to the fan base, as the main reason likely would be money, as in the team doesn't have it after spending so much on A-Rod.

The return of Rodriguez this season has been controversial, but he has played well and now the team needs him and everyone else to step up, or its home for the postseason. The game will be at 7:07 PM at the Rogers Centre and Pettitte will be facing RA Dickey.
