Manchester United Transfer News: Moyes Refutes Reports of Rift with Rooney; Vidic Expects Chelsea Target to Stay

David Moyes played down speculation of a break down in his relationship with Wayne Rooney, while skipper Nemanja Vidic is not too worried about the constant exit talk surrounding his teammate.

Rooney has been the subject of two bids from Chelsea this summer and is reportedly keen to seal a move to Stamford Bridge having grown disillusioned at United.

However, Moyes has always maintained Rooney is not for sale and despite reports to the contrary, the new United manager insisted he still enjoys a good relationship with the England international.

"I'm enjoying talking about it (the Rooney transfer saga) because so many of you have got it wrong," Moyes said. "I didn't fall out with Wayne, he trained with the reserves at his own request.

"He couldn't have contact because of his shoulder injury so he played as a floating player (a player who plays for the team in possession) with no contact. Anyone who wrote anything else is misleading their readers."

Meanwhile, Vidic also chose to play down reports of an impending transfer for Rooney, saying he expects the forward to stay at Old Trafford come the close of the transfer window.

"I think it's the best club in the world and there's so much speculation, so much talk about if he will leave or stay," the skipper said after United's 2-0 win over Wigan in the Community Shield.

"I have to say, the last four years I was in that position as well, people talking (saying) I will leave the club when I'm still here and I am enjoying playing for this club. (There is) Nothing else to say."

Vidic is not surprised by the interest shown by other clubs in Rooney, but believes the player is in the best club in the world.

"Any team in the world would like to have Robin (Van Persie) and Wayne but like I said, Manchester United is the biggest club in the world and we want to have the top players.

"I think the top players want to play for Man United and there's no question about it."
