Manchester United Transfer Rumors: Yohan Cabaye Back on United's Radar as Moyes Prepares Bid for Newcastle Midfielder

Having picked up his first trophy as Manchester United manager following a 2-0 win over Wigan in the Community Shield Sunday, manager David Moyes will turn his attentions back towards the transfer market.

After failing in bids to bring in Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona, Moyes has been forced to turn his attentions to other prospects with Luka Modric thought to be one of them.

However, another name on the list is Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye, and Moyes is ready to put in a bid for the classy midfielder.

Cabaye is rated at around the £25-30 million ($39-46.5 million) mark and United are reportedly lining up a bid of £25 million.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew insisted he wants to keep Cabaye at the club, saying he has no plans to let the French international, who has also been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, go.

"You want to keep hold of your best players and Yohan is one of the best in the world, in my opinion," Pardew said after Newcastle preseason friendly with Braga.

"He has been a fantastic asset for us and has conducted himself in the right manner through all the speculation, and I admire him for that.

"It can only be good for his confidence if more and more clubs get involved -- good luck to them."

Moyes has so far been left frustrated in his attempts to bring in a midfielder who can control the middle of the park and possibly forge a good partnership with Michael Carrick.

Modric and Cabaye both fit the bill in players capable of giving United that extra edge in midfield, but bringing either of them to Old Trafford will not be easy, with both Real Madrid and Newcastle likely to hold out for a considerable sum for their respective players.
