Mississippi guard Marshall Henderson is a talented player with an attitude that many find controversial on the court and while he showed that he can spark a team in the NCAA Tournament last year, his off the court behavior may derail any chance at a future in the NBA.
According to ESPN.com, Henderson has been suspended indefinitely by Ole Miss for violation of team rules and sources said that the reason was for failed drug tests. The school announced the news on Wednesday and the report says that Henderson may be allowed back on the team if he meets certain "conditions." Henderson has had numerous troubles throughout his college career and he has already played at Utah and in junior college before coming to the Rebels.
Henderson has been an offensive force on the court and the team had its best season in recent memory after he led the SEC in scoring and led the Rebels to a win in the conference tournament. He also got the team into the NCAA tournament for the first since 2002 and now he is in danger of missing part of or all of this upcoming season depending on how things play out. The guard plays with reckless abandon and can be somewhat loud on the court, mocking road crowds and popping his jersey and now he will be looked at as someone on the verge of ruining their basketball future in college.
Henderson previously was arrested in 2009 and in 2011 and he also spent time in jail after violating probation stemming from his second arrest. Ole Miss looked past those issues and Henderson was mostly a good athlete last season, but now his future in the school is up in the air. Henderson also got into it with Erin Andrews on Twitter, responding to her after she made a comment about his mocking of other teams.
