The Aaron Hernandez murder case still has plenty of questions as the former tight end sits in jail and Odin Lloyd is laid to rest, including whether the case involved drugs and if the NFL star also committed a double murder last year in Boston.

According to the Boston Globe, Hernandez and Lloyd knew each other for two years and the relationship began through their significant others, as Hernandez was dating Shayanna Jenkins, the sister of Odin Lloyd's girlfriend Shanea. Reports say that the four spent time together over the past two years and often times made plans together and the Globe says that a possible motive may have been that Lloyd knew about Hernandez's involvement in a double murder last year.

One writer in Jason Whitlock has speculated a bit about the crime, saying that the police story of Hernandez killing Lloyd over talking to the wrong people at a club doesn't seem like a strong enough motive. He writes that the double murder from last year that may have involved Hernandez is telling, as are the rental cars in his name and his associates behavior. Whitlock says that drugs may have been involved and as the Boston Globe reports, Lloyd may have known something about Hernandez and his involvement in the deaths of Safiro Furtado and Daniel Abreu, who were reportedly killed in a drive by style shooting in Boston.

Hernandez is being connected to that case through a "gray or silver" SUV that had Rhode Island plates, which police recently took into custody. ABC News and the Boston Globe have reported that the death of Lloyd may be connected to that murder, as the victim may have known about Hernandez's involvement. Safiro Furtado and Daniel Abreu were killed on July 16 in 2012 and motive for that crime may have been a fight that broke out between Hernandez and a group that included the two men. The two and a car of three others were at a light after leaving the club and when that silver or gray jeep pulled along side the car, it opened fire on the front seat, killing the two men.

Hernandez was arrested a week after the body of Lloyd was found less than a mile from his home and he was released soon after by the Patriots. Hernandez was arraigned in court and charged with first degree murder in the death of Lloyd and he was later denied bail twice as the judge deemed him a flight risk since he has the means to do it. Lloyd's murder was described as a cold blooded execution that was orchestrated by Hernandez in connection with an incident at a club.
