Aaron Hernandez is currently in jail and waiting for the investigation into the murder of Odin Lloyd to be completed and as that is going on, the victim was laid to rest in Mattapan on Saturday, bringing out friends and family to the church of the Holy Spirit.
According CBS Boston, the 27-year-old was laid to rest on Saturday two weeks after he was shot and killed and his body was discovered in an industrial park a mile from Hernandez's home. The body was found on June 17 and the former Patriots tight end is facing first degree murder charges in the case, while two accomplices have also been arrested. According to reports, Lloyd started dating the sister of Aaron Hernandez's fiance two years ago and that is how the two met.
Lloyd was an athlete in high school and played for the Boston Bandits semi-pro football team at linebacker. He played football, basketball and was a track MVP and his family and friends remembered him as a funny, outgoing and outstanding young man. Too many people came to the funeral to even fit in the church and many had to stand outside for the service. Police have said that the motive for the killing was Lloyd talking to the wrong people at a nightclub.
Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to the charges and two other men are in custody, as three men reportedly were with Lloyd when he was killed. Lawyers detailed cell phone and described video evidence to show that Hernandez was with Lloyd at the time of the murder.
