Manchester City Transfer News: Kompany Has No Plans to Leave in the Summer; Pellegrini Quiet Over City Move

May 27, 2013 04:54 AM EDT

Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany has doused the fire over a proposed move away from the Etihad with reports linking him to the likes of Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

Kompany did not have the greatest of seasons, by his high standards, but that has not stopped the papers from linking the Belgian to both Barcelona and Monaco, who are making waves in the transfer market, with Radamel Falcao expected to join the principality club, after already sealing the signings of Porto pair James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho.

However, Kompany, who is quite settled in Manchester, took to Twitter to dispel the rumors, insisting he has no plans of leaving Manchester City in the summer.

"Speculations and questions about next season. I'm not going anywhere," Kompany said on Twitter.

"I love playing for City and I've still got some unfinished business."

A name expected to come in to Manchester City sooner rather than later is Manuel Pellegrini, with the Chilean expected to be named as the new manager following Roberto Mancini's departure just before the end of the English Premier League season.

Pellegrini, though, chose to remain mum when asked about his impending move to City, insisting his decision would be made only after his tenure with Malaga comes to an end next weekend.

"I have answered this (questions about his move to City) many times," Pellegrini told reporters.

"Once we have played Deportivo we will see about my future and where I am going. I haven't signed any contract yet.

"Once I have finished here in Malaga -- Malaga have qualified for Europe -- and completed the match we will see where my future lies.

"But now I will only discuss my present position with Malaga."

Pressed further, Pellegrini did admit City were one of the options available to him.

"I am fortunate to have some very good options and Manchester City is one of them," he said.

Manchester City are desperate to wrest the Premier League title back from Manchester United, but will face even stiffer competition next season, with the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal also expected to strengthen considerably in the summer.
