Borussia Dortmund stunned Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League semifinals on Tuesday in a chaotic and exciting match and after all the dust settled the club found themselves into the next round of the tournament after the home victory.

According to the New York Times, Borussia Dortmund fell in the match 2-0 against Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu, but after winning the first leg 4-1, they were able to hang on following a frantic final 10 minutes that allowed them to advance to the finals on aggregate on 4-3. Real Madrid was facing certain defeat at the end of the match and then came to life with goals by Karim Benzema in the 83rd minute and Sergio Ramos in the 88th before it all ended.

The match had five minutes of extra time and on top of the late goals there was a flurry of action to close, but despite being dominant at certain times Real Madrid did not play consistently enough to make up for the first loss. Robert Lewandowski scored all four goals in the first match for Dortmund and he nearly added another one on Tuesday when he hit the top of the crossbar at the 50th minute of the match and the team had other chances as well, but couldn't capitalize.

Real Madrid Manager José Mourinho said the first leg match was the club's undoing and the four goals were just too hard of a number to come back from, leaving Dortmund to advance to the finals. There is widespread speculation that the coach will go to the Premier League next year and said that he may not be with the team next season. The winner Dortmund will play either Bayern Munich or Barcelona later in the month.
