According to USA Today, the now slain 26-year-old called his uncle and spoke to him around 7 pm for about five minutes and spoke about what happened and asked for forgiveness. Alvi Tsarnaev spoke to The (Westchester County, N.Y.) Journal News and said that Tamerlan said he loved him and also asked about their family back in Russia and other details, staring off with an Arabic greeting.

"He said, 'I love you and forgive me,' " said Alvi Tsarnaev, who lives in Montgomery Village, Md. "We were not talking for a long time because there were some problems," he said, without elaborating. "We were not happy with each other."

The brothers lived together in Cambridge and Tamerlan was attending Bunker Hill Community College and he previously was an amateur boxer in the Golden Gloves competition. The brothers led police on a chase on Thursday night after robbing a store and killing a police officer, stealing a car and heading into Watertown, which is now locked down. The two were in a firefight with police that saw on suspect get killed and the other get away and is still at large.

Authorities arte piecing together information from area residents and acquaintances as they try and figure out the motive behind the original attack. The FBI has spoken with relatives, while Boston has been places on virtual lockdown as the authorities search Watertown for the missing suspect.
