Boston College Students Organize Walk For Runners and Marathon Explosion Victims Friday From School To Copley Square

The Boston Marathon bombing was a shocking display to many in the city who celebrate Patriots Day and the marathon and a number of Boston College students have come together to honor the runners who did not get to finish, setting up a Facebook event called "Boston Marathon: The Last 5."

According to Facebook, the event is for the 5,000 or so runners that were stopped from finishing the race after they crossed the 40K mark and made to stop and go to another area. The students came together to organize the event and wrote that "we decide when our marathon ends."

Boston College students Dani Cole and Michael Padulsky set up the event and set it for April 19th, @ 4:30 PM and wrote that it is going from Boston College to Copley Square and will end near where the bombing happened in a way to show support for victims and to stand strong. The even at already has thousands of responders.

"In light of today's tragedy, let's remember, honor, and stand up for all those affected by the incident that occurred at the 117th Boston Marathon. We invite everyone to join us on Friday, April 19 at 4:30pm to walk from BC to Boston to stand united. For anyone who did not get to finish, For anyone who was injured, and For anyone who lost their life...we will walk. We will walk to show that we decide when our marathon ends," the event said.
