Chelsea have made the first move to try and sign the prolific Burak Yilmaz, only for Galatasaray to reject their big-money bid, while the Blues are also showing an interest in Ajax playmaker Christian Eriksen.

It's a well known fact that Chelsea are in the market for a striker in the summer, with Radamel Falcao thought to be their No.1 target.

However, if Chelsea were to miss out on Falcao, who has reportedly said he will not be moving to Stamford Bridge, they do have a few contingency plans in place with Yilmaz one of the names reportedly topping the list.

Manchester United have also been strongly linked with a move for the Turkish international, but Chelsea have played their cards first by putting in a £21 million ($32 million) offer for the 27-year-old, according to Turkish newspaper Fanatik.

However, Galatasaray have categorically rejected the offer, with the Turkish giants valuing Yilmaz nearer the £30 million ($45 million) mark.

Yilmaz, who is the top scorer in this year's Champions League, has been in brilliant form this season, in his first year with Galatasaray, scoring 25 goals in 31 games. The striker was equally prolific for his former club Trabzonspor, having netted nearly a goal a game his two-year spell with the Turkish club.

Meanwhile, the Blues are the latest club to show an interest in Danish international Eriksen.

Liverpool and Tottenham are thought to be the favorites to land the coveted playmaker, with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Inter Milan also credited with an interest.

However, Chelsea have now joined the queue after sending scouts to watch to 21-year-old in action for Denmark during the international week, according to Sporten.dk.

Eriksen is expected to leave Ajax this summer, after rejecting a new contract offer from the Dutch giants. Ajax will be forced to sell if the status quo is maintained as Eriksen's current deal expires in 2014, and leaving it too late might see the talented youngster leave for free at the end of next season.

Chelsea already have an abundance of talented playmakers in Juan Mata, Oscar and Eden Hazard, but adding someone with the talent of Eriksen can only make any team better.
