The Dallas Cowboys have a top five draft pick this year and players like Paxton Lynch, Jared Goff, Joey Bosa, Ezekiel Elliot, Derrick Henry, Carson Wentz, Laquon Treadwell and DeForest Buckner could be potential targets for Jerry Jones.

The Cowboys are in an interesting position for the 2016 draft, as the team feels it's ready to compete for a Super Bowl title, yet they have a top five pick. Injuries and inconsistent play from the quarterback position put the Cowboys in this spot and now Jerry Jones has the chance to add a top prospect to the roster in the first round of the draft. Many have speculated that the Cowboys will target a quarterback with the number four overall pick, but Jones said to NFL.com that the team isn't necessarily going to go that way in the first round.

The Cowboys have been rumored to be interested in Robert Griffin and Johnny Manziel as backup quarterback options for Tony Romo and if the team follows through on that, they could go after a different position than quarterback at number four. Mel Kiper at ESPN has the team going after DeForest Buckner in the first round, as he speculates that Greg Hardy will not return. Buckner is considered to be one of the top pass rushers in the draft and he could be a fit if Joey Bosa is off the board ay number four.

Jared Goff is considered to be the best QB prospect in the draft and if he slips past the Browns at number two, there is a good chance that Jones at least considers making that pick. Carson Wentz and Paxton Lynch have also been linked to the Cowboys, as Wentz is being coached by the Cowboys staff at the Senior Bowl. Lynch spoke with the The Afternoon Show with Cowlishaw and Mosley on ESPN Radio 103.3 KESN-FM in Dallas this past week and said he would have no issue sitting as a backup behind Romo if he was drafted by the Cowboys.

Dallas also could look at some other offensive positions at number four, including running back and wide receiver. The team has Darren McFadden coming back, but with Joseph Randle and Christine Michael out, the team could look for more depth there with players like Ezekiel Elliott or Derrick Henry. The wide receiver position is also an option, as Dez Bryant is coming off of major surgery and the team could consider adding Treadwell.

Elliott comes in after rushing for over 1800 yards and putting up 23 touchdowns for Ohio State and he could be the first RB off the board in the draft. Henry won the Heisman last season and put up 2061 yards and 25 touchdowns and he also could be a fit for the team at some point in the draft. Treadwell comes in after putting up 82 receptions for 1,153 yards and 11 touchdowns for Ole Miss and he could be the first WR off the board this year.
