Pick: 4

Needs: Quarterback/Running back/Defensive tackle/Wide receiver/Linebacker/Cornerback/Defensive end/Linebacker

The Dallas Cowboys will have to make a very difficult choice at the top of this draft as they have a top 5 pick for the first time in several years. In analyzing their needs it is simple to see the positions they are weakest in. Quarterback is a strength when Romo is healthy but finding a viable backup has been incredibly difficult. Now is not the time for the Cowboys to invest a first round pick on a young quarterback as they should be looking to solidify the team around Romo. The Cowboys should find a couple of veteran backups to bring into camp or at the very least draft a quarterback in the third round. That means they would be looking at players such as Dak Prescott, Cardale Jones, or even Christian Hackenberg.

If the Cowboys could get Jones or Hackenberg that late they could have their heir apparent to Romo's starting spot. The Cowboys also need a high quality running back however have continued to devalue the position tremendously. The Cowboys got lucky as McFadden never got injured however that is not something they should bank on heading into 2016. The Cowboys ideally would get Ezekiel Elliot as he is the best pass blocker and quite possibly the best running back in the entire draft. Next up would be Derrick Henry who wants to come to Dallas. Then things get a bit murky, the 2nd and 3rd rounds could go either way but the Cowboys would need to pick up either, Anthony Collins, Kenneth Dixon, Kenyan Drake, or C.J. Prosise to fill that void in the backfield. Elliot would be a franchise running back right away.

Next up would be defensive tackle or defensive end, this is the area where if the Cowboys want to play it safe they would select the best player on their board. Joey Bosa is looking like a likely candidate for the Cowboys however A'shawn Robinson, and DeForest Buckner could be options as well. Bosa just is clearly the favorite overall number 1 ranked defensive end so it would be hard for the Cowboys to turn to another player. At linebacker the choice is obvious as Myles Jack would be the only player that makes sense in this category to go so early. Finally the Cowboys need a defensive back and Jalen Ramsey would be another safe decision and immediately change/upgrade this Cowboys secondary. The Cowboys could also look at Eli Apple and Kendall Fuller in the second round as well.

Possible selections

Round 1: Joey Bosa, Jalen Ramsey, Ezekiel Elliot, Myles Jack,

Round 2: Derrick Henry, Kenneth Dixon, Robert Nkemdiche, Emmanuel Ogbah, Eli Apple, Kendall Fuller,

Round 3: Cardale Jones, Christian Hackenberg, Dak Prescott, Kenyan Drake, C.J. Posise,
