Cleveland Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden (3) is sacked by Buffalo Bills defensive end Mario Williams (94) during the third quarter at FirstEnergy Stadium. "

The Buffalo Bills are in the midst of a retooling phase in which the new head coach Rex Ryan is looking for players who want to fit into his scheme, Mario Williams is not one of those players.

With Williams the writing was on the wall the minute he criticized Ryan's defense and coaching acumen. As a player when your organization brings in a brand new coach and system the last thing they want to happen is a player criticizing the new head coach.

Plus Williams does not necessarily fit into Ryan's system and with his mammoth contract he is likely to become a cap casualty. Williams will save the Bill's around $12 million in cap spaced if he is released which would allow the Bills to make a play for some quality free agents.

The Bills could use a quality 2nd wide receiver and will need to replace William's production somehow but that could be done in the draft. This is truly Rex Ryan's team for better or worse and the 2016 draft should have his finger prints all over it. Ryan will likely look for players who will be more suited to his scheme in the future.
