Geno Smith wants to be a starting quarterback. After spending all season watching Ryan Fitzpatrick have success and win over the New York Jets, Smith wants to get back on the field. However, the biggest question is whether or not that will be with the Jets or somewhere else as Fitzpatrick will likely be returning to the franchise. With a number of teams looking for quarterback help, could Smith land somewhere else to try and win over the starting spot?

Smith was very clear with the media in regards to his desire to start again at quarterback. He believes that head coach Todd Bowles will give him that opportunity, but right now the only thing the franchise can talk about is the success of Fitzpatrick and the need to bring him back. Bowles made it clear that if re-signed, Fitzpatrick is the starting quarterback. That would leave Smith on the outside looking in once again.

"I believe in myself. I believe in my ability," Smith said, via the New York Post. "I think the experience that I gained this year, in the mental developmental part of that, is going to grow and continue to grow. I'm not going to change the way I go about things, because I've always worked hard and I've always had the right mindset. I'm going to continue to do that, but work 10 times harder because I have 10 times more motivation."

Smith's resume is not the best, but a change of scenery could be good for the quarterback. Considering his numbers as a starter, his trade value is very low, but someone could show interest. Could the Dallas Cowboys eye a deal? Jerry Jones told ESPN.com that he is not against taking a risk when looking for a backup to Tony Romo. The Cowboys need to bring someone in to develop for the future. They will not spend big on a player, but Smith would not require much. The team must decide if he is an upgrade over Robert Griffin III or Johnny Manziel.

The Cleveland Browns could also be an option. According to ESPN's Pat McManamon, the Browns are likely to draft the quarterback of the future, but with Paxton Lynch and Jared Goff not looking like done deals, Smith could be a better option moving forward. The same thing goes for the Houston Texans and San Francisco 49ers who are looking for quarterback help.

Smith might believe he has a chance to start for the Jets, but with Bowles favoring Fitzpatrick, that might not happen. The quarterback is in the prime of his career and might need to head elsewhere if he wants to play.
