Head coach Tom Coughlin of the New York Giants
Head coach Tom Coughlin of the New York Giants speaks to the media after their loss to the Philadelphia Eagles at MetLife Stadium on January 3, 2016 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. "

Tom Coughlin may have stepped down as the head coach of the New York Giants however he has not yet retired from the world of coaching. Coughlin said he would discuss his future plans with his family before announcing his next move.

With the Philadelphia Eagles looking for a top notch head coach Coughlin represents all of the qualities owner Jeffrey Lurie are currently looking for. Legendary coach Bill Parcells recently expressed his views on Coughlin and where he should go next. Parcells coached with Coughlin for a very long time so it is possible Parcells has some insight most of us are missing.

Parcells went on to express that the head coaching pool is relatively thin especially if an owner is looking for a coach with a ton of experience and some history in the NFL. Coughlin has won 2 Super Bowls and took the Jacksonville Jaguars to the AFC Title game twice, once in the second year of the franchise's existence. With Lurie looking for a proven winner Coughlin cannot be overlooked.

The Eagles also did recently interview New York Giants offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo so the interest in their coaching staff is well known. Coughlin may not be in for a gigantic rebuilding project however compared to the other coaching options (Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Francisco 49ers) the Philadelphia Eagles may still be able to have success in the near future.
