Mike Evans (Tampa Bay Buccaneers): Mike Evans had one of the best rookie years the NFL had seen in a very long time. Even with a mess at quarterback and without Jameis Winston, Evans managed to be one of the most valuable fantasy rookies of the 2014 season. Fast forward to 2015 and Evans looks like a completely different player. Sure a lot of that had to do with the quarterback switch however going from a bad quarterback to an above average one should have given Evans a boost in productivity instead we saw his numbers decline sharply. Evans finished the season catching 74 out of 148 targets for 1,206 yards, and 3 touchdowns. This would mean he was effectively averaging 9.1 points per game but of course some games were worse than others. Evans fell into a sophomore slump and it cost fantasy owner's big time.
Randall Cobb (Green Bay Packers): Cobb was awful this season. The Green Bay wide receivers for the exception of James Jones looked like a collection of Roy Williams impersonators. Cobb was supposed to be the number 1 so he takes a larger portion of the blame because he was drafted a lot higher. Fantasy owners were shocked to see James Jones vulture a ton of Cobb's points right out of the gate. Cobb had awful games and that is an understatement. All preseason fantasy owners felt safe in Green Bay's golden glow, especially after their offensive explosion in the 2014 season. Instead fantasy owners were treated to some fool's gold by every member of the Green Bay offense including Aaron Rodgers. Cobb was not worth a 5th round pick let alone a 2nd. Cobb ended his season averaging 8.1 fantasy points per game. He caught 74 out of 129 targets that gained 829 yards. He would only have 6 receiving touchdowns and 1 rushing touchdown.
Markus Wheaton (Pittsburgh Steelers): Wheaton was billed as the next big thing coming out of Pittsburgh in preseason. Wheaton had 1 great game and I guarantee you, you didn't start him for it. Wheaton was an afterthought as soon as the season began and only padded his stat line during a trip to Seattle where every other Pittsburgh wide receiver saw the best coverage possible, except for him. Wheaton ended the season catching 44 of 79 targets for 749 yards, and 5 touchdowns.
Dez Bryant (Dallas Cowboys): Dez's first round grade has him on this list. Every owner who drafted Bryant expecting number 1 WR numbers instead got goose eggs as Bryant was injured for a large portion of the season. Bryant did return briefly however it was not enough to make up for what turned out to be a wasted first round pick. Dez only played in 9 games and had 31 receptions for 401 yards and 3 touchdowns. Fantasy owners are going to have a hard time trusting Dez after last season.
