With the New England Patriots announcing that they will place LeGarrette Blount on season ending injured reserve they will most likely try to find another power back through free agency likely a veteran. Blount suffered a hip injury in his contest against the Houston Texans that cost him the rest of his season.

Now the Patriots will likely turn to James White and Brandon Bolden to lead the backfield for the rest of the season.

The Patriots did bring in veteran Steven Jackson for a meeting on Wednesday most likely to see if Jackson could be the Patriots new power back. Jackson used to play for the Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels so this could be a nice late season fit.

The Patriots have had terrible luck at the running back position this year as they already lost Dion Lewis who was budding into a young super star on passing downs to a torn ACL in week 9.

The combination of losing both of your starting running backs is a massive blow but the Patriots do have 2 running backs on their practice squad. They could choose to promote either Montee Ball (who is reportedly ten pounds overweight) or Trey Williams.
