The Miami Marlins may consider a Jose Fernandez trade at the winter meetings, as reports have the Los Angeles Dodgers and other teams interested in the young starter. According to ESPN and Fox Sports, the Marlins reportedly are having talks with teams about Fernandez, even after numerous denials this offseason that the pitchers is on the trading block.

Ken Rosenthal at Fox Sports reports that the Marlins are willing to trade Fernandez, but only for an "absurd haul" of prospects. Rosenthal reports that the Marlins are "discussing trades" with the 23-year-old pitcher and that one reason is the "disdain" for his agent Scott Boras by the Marlins front office. Stark reports that the Dodgers are one of the teams that the Marlins are talking to and that "at least two other teams" have discussed "blockbuster" deals with Miami.

Those teams were not named, but the Yankees, Giants, Cubs and Dodgers are all considered potential options to go after starting pitching at the winter meetings and could be involved. Stark writes that the price is very high for Fernandez and that could keep a deal from happening for the Marlins. Jon Heyman at CBS Sports reports that the Marlins likely would want Julio Urias and Corey Seager from the Dodgers for Fernandez and the team may not want to part with those prospects.

Stark reported that the Diamondbacks also could be an option for a trade. The team signed Zack Greinke and they want to look at trade deals over spending more money in free agency after giving over $200 million to Greinke on a contract. Fernandez is one of the top young starters in baseball and while he has dealt with Tommy John surgery, he only costs $2.2 million for this season. The Dodgers have reportedly been looking into trading for Aroldis Chapman and Rosenthal writes that the team could consider moving him in a deal if they acquire him to try and get Fernandez.

The Dodgers let Zack Greinke walk and while they have reportedly signed Hisashi Iwakuma, the team may also want to add another frontline starter next to Clayton Kershaw. The Cubs and Giants missed out on David Price and Greinke and could be options to go after Fernandez. The Giants have added Jeff Samardzija, but they are also linked to Mike Leake and reportedly want more starting pitching. The Yankees have been reluctant to trade their prospects the past couple years, but the team is desperate for some starting pitching as well and could consider a deal.
