The Dallas Cowboys are trying to remain optimistic with the prognosis of Dez Bryant. According to the wide receiver via Twitter, he has undergone surgery on his foot after suffering a broken bone in Sunday night's game. Team owner Jerry Jones told the media that Bryant would be having a pin inserted into his foot to fix the issue. It is a similar injury to what Julio Jones and DeVante Parker both underwent which means the four to six weeks diagnosis might be a little generous. Will this force a roster addition?

The Cowboys believe four to six weeks is enough time for Bryant to heal, but it was not enough time for either Parker or Jones. Right now, Dallas is prepared to play Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley as their two main wide receivers and while both are quality options, they might not be enough. ESPNDallas.com writes that Williams is the only real down-field threat for Tony Romo unless Devin Street or rookie Lucky Whitehead turns out to be better. Tight end Jason Witten will of course play a big  playmaker, but in terms of outside receivers, the Cowboys need help.

The free agent market does have some quality options that the Cowboys could take a look at. Reggie Wayne highlights the group after he was released by the New England Patriots. Wayne showed he can still play in one preseason game with the former Super Bowl champs and might be a quality addition to a rather young group of receivers. Hakeem Nicks is also available after his release from the Tennessee Titans. Either player would give Romo another option to run downfield and score. For now, Williams is their best option.

"I thought he did a really good job in the game where he had an opportunity on a slant and another slant and wasn't able to finish those plays," head coach Jason Garrett said, via ESPN.com. "Young players sometimes get down on themselves, while veterans and the better players somehow put those behind them and go one to the next one. He's improved as a route runner and running after the catch. He's just a good football player."

The Cowboys got the last-minute win over the Giants on Sunday, but they have a long ways to go before they are the team of last season. The run game left a lot to be desired with Darren McFadden and Joseph Randle running the game. Lance Dunbar turned out to be a key threat in the passing game and will likely be used the same way again until Dallas can upgrade their options with Bryant out.
