The Heisman Trophy race still has many months to go, but after Week 1, players like Derrick Henry, Malik Zaire, Trevone Boykin, Royce Freeman, Josh Rosen, Dak Prescott and Nick Chubb are in the mix, while Ohio State stars Cardale Jones, JT Barrett and Ezekiel Elliott could get in after playing against the Hokies this week.

Boykin comes in as one of the frontrunners for the Heisman and he had a solid performance to open the season against Minnesota. Boykin had 246 passing yards and a touchdowns and he rushed for 92 yards and one touchdown running the ball. Boykin put up some stellar numbers last season and this year e is going to get another chance to get into the Heisman race.

Derrick Henry is with Alabama and he could be a contender at running back after a strong start to the season. Henry can be the top back and he comes in after putting up 137 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries in the game against Wisconsin. Henry has shown some explosiveness, including on a 40-yard run and a 56-yard touchdown run. Henry had 159 totals yards in the game and averaged over 11 yards per carry.

Zaire steps into the starting lineup for Notre Dame and he comes in after completing 19 of 22 passes for 313 yards and three touchdowns. Zaire had no picks in the game and look poised against a Texas team that was overmatched. Royce Freeman also could be in the mix for Oregon, as the team puts up some major stats and he could get a lot of work behind Vernon Adams. Freeman had 180 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries and he is one to watch.

One player that won't be in the mix that might have had a chance is Taysom Hill from BYU, as he could be out for the season with a foot injury. Hill had the potential to be in the Heisman race with his skill set, but now he will be out for the season. Hill came in after missing time with an injury last season while playing in five games after suffering a ligament tear and now he has another injury. Hill previously put up over 4000 total yards in 2013 while scoring nearly 30 touchdowns.
