The TCU Horned Frogs are entering the 2015 college football season as one of the teams to beat. Coming close to getting into the first College Football Playoffs in 2014, the Horned Frogs are back with potentially the best player in college football on their roster. Trevone Boykin has all the expectations in the world on his shoulders and now is his time to prove them all right as TCU takes on Minnesota in the first game of the season.

Boykin has been named to every preseason watch list there is in college football while also being considered an early Heisman trophy candidate. The quarterback along with the other 10 returning starters on offense are a big reason why the Horned Frogs are the No.2 team in the nation. After finishing 2014 as the second highest scoring unit in the league, they are expected to repeat the success and then some in 2015.

TCU fell short of the playoffs thanks to Ohio State scooting in ahead of them. However, this year their path is clear with Bryce Petty out of Baylor. There is no one in the Big 12 that will challenge the Horned Frogs which is simply adding to the expectations of the season. The stats say it all for TCU. The team averaged 46.5 points per season last year. Boykin averaged 300.1 passing yards per game while also rushing for 54.4 yards per game.  He joins the Robert Griffin III and Johnny Manziel as the only other quarterbacks with those numbers since 2009.

However, Boykin is not the whole show in TCU. Receiver Josh Doctson returns after having 1,018 yards last season. Kolby Listenbee is back with his 753 yards put up in 2014 while Aaron Green takes care of the ground game after averaging 7.1 yards per carry. TCU is expected to run the table all the way to the playoffs in 2015 simply because the remainder of the conference is relatively weak and unranked.

Minnesota comes into the matchup with little hype and little known about the team. The Golden Gophers lost to Missouri in the Citrus Bowl last year while going 8-5 on the season. They no longer have their pride and joy of 2014 as tight end Maxx Williams was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens. David Cobb also headed off the Tennessee Titans. They have major holes to fill with those playmakers gone. Mitch Leidner will need to do some major work with the remaining offensive pieces.
