Gosder Cherilus after being unceremoniously being released by the Colts has finally found a new home with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Cherilus signed a 2 year $7 million deal that has a $500,000 roster bonus. He can earn another half a million dollars by appearing in the first 12 games of the season. This move by the Buccaneers was necessary to give Jameis Winston any kind of protection now that Demar Dotson went down with an MCL Sprain. Head coach Lovie Smith spoke about Dotson's injury,

"We have the medical reports in, but I'm just not going to go into details. He's out. We brought another player in," Smith said. "He's going to be out for a period of time. Hopefully not a long period of time, but he'll be out for a while ... and we have to move on."

He is expected to miss up to 6 weeks so any type of outside help is necessary at this point. Cherilus was the highest paid right tackle in 2013 so his talent is not in question. Smith stated

"Demar went down, we needed some offensive line help, it's good that a player like that is available."

Cherilus had offers from other teams but he claimed the only place he wanted to play was in Tampa Bay. Cherilus will provide some stability on a line that needs to be rebuilt in the worst way.
