New York Giant's linebacker Jameel McClain suffered what could become a potentially deadly injury. McClain suffered a stinger during practice however was able to get up and walk to the locker room under his own power; McClain's history with stingers is a scary one.

He has missed an entire season due to complications with a stinger that left his spine injured. The diagnosis was a spinal cord contusion which kept him out for the rest of his time with the Ravens. McClain has battled back since then and played a full season with Big Blue last season. He was penciled in as a starter and could help in coverage as well.

Giants head coach Tom Coughlin made a pretty brief statement that shows the magnitude of the injury. Coughlin said "I wouldn't even be able to guess on what they will do" when talking about McClain's possible rehab and return. This leaves Jon Beason to do the majority of the work as the starting middle linebacker and will have to remain healthy for the Giant's linebacking core not crumble.

This leaves Tony Johnson and Cole Farrand as replacements; Farrand is a rookie free agent who is 22 and pretty inexperienced to see any real reps with the starters. Johnson spent some time with the Ravens in camp before he was waived then he was added to the Giants were he also was waived after dealing with a foot injury. This spells bad news for a defense that is just losing too many playmakers as of late.
