The FIFA Women's World Cup 2015 final between the United States and Japan is live on FOX starting at 7 pm ET from Vancouver at BC Place in British Columbia and this is the second straight matchup in the finals for the teams and USA is looking to win this time after losing on penalties last time around and the match will be online from FOX Soccer 2Go and Fox Sports as well as TSN in Canada.
The United States comes in after getting a huge win over Germany in the semis, while England lost against Japan to set up the rematch. Germany was the top ranked team in the tournament and the US won that game 2-0 after previously beating Colombia and now they are matched up with Japan again for a title. Japan might be lucky to even be in the final after the win over England, as they got a last second victory on an own goal to set up the rematch.
The United States had a much tougher road to the final than Japan after playing against Sweden and Germany and they pushed through that to get here. The core of this team feels like they have something to finish after losing to Japan last time and they will be looking for the victory during this rematch. The United States defense has been fantastic and they stopped China and Colombia from scoring and now they battle with Japan.
The US and Japan have played in big competitions already and the stage should not be a big deal for either side at this point. The last time the teams played it went down 1-1 and in the 2012 Olympics the United States won the match 2-1 with two goals from Carli Lloyd. Lloyd has played very well for the team during the Cup this time around and players like Alex Morgan and Abby Wambach want to finish things right this time around.
The United States has not looked great for most of the World Cup, but things are starting to take shape and now they could be getting in the right form at the perfect time. The defense has been fantastic and Hope Solo has been able to hold tight when tested. Japan will not be afraid to go at the front of back lines and that should make for a very fun contest.
