The NBA playoffs standings in the finals has the Golden State Warriors leading the Cleveland Cavaliers 3-2 after the win in Game 5 on Sunday night and now the team is one win away from a championship heading into Game 6 on Tuesday and this comes as some have argued that LeBron James should be the MVP of the series whether the Cavaliers win or lose.

The Warriors won handily in Game 5 after pulling away from the Cavaliers and the same thing happened in Game 4 once the Cavs got close. Cleveland is now down 3-2 heading into Game 6 and they have to win to force a winner take all Game 7 in the finals. These are long odds considering how well the Warriors play at home, but according to ESPN stats, two of the last three teams to face that deficit have bounced back to win the series.

The Cavaliers are facing long odds to do that, but they have the talent to do it, as James is the best player in the NBA. James is getting consideration for MVP in this series by many in the media, as he has played out of his mind for the Cavs. James has had two triple-doubles in the finals and has been averaging nearly 40 points per game, but some think the losing team should not have a player win the award. Stephen Curry has an argument after winning the MVP during the regular season, but James has played even better than Curry has overall.

Curry scored 37 points in the Game 5 win and he has really been turning things on, but based on the word valuable, there has been no one better than James in the series. James is doing this without Kevin Love or Kyrie Irving healthy and he is playing in nearly every minute of each game. James has had at least 40 points three times in the series and he also set a record for the most points through the first three games of an NBA finals.

James had a milestone stat line earlier in the series and he added sixth career triple double in the NBA finals with his performance in Game 5. James is averaging 36 points during the finals after dropping 40 points in the last game and he also had 14 rebounds and 11 assists for the Cavs. James was on the bench at the end when the Warriors pulled away and Golden State ended up winning 104-91 and now James has to find a way to get his team going in the next game.

James has been fantastic and he also has been overworked, as he has been involved in basically half of the Cavs scoring plays during the series. The Warriors have the right recipe with a smaller lineup and the play of Andre Iguodala has helped put the team over the top. Iguodala has played solid defense and his size has changed the Warriors lineup and the Cavs for that matter, as Timofey Mozgov played less than 10 minutes in Game 5 after leading the Cavs with 28 points and 10 rebounds in Game 4.
