The Tennessee Titans are coming into the offseason looking to improve after taking Marcus Mariota number two overall and coming into OTA workouts he is expected to be the starter over Zach Mettenberger and this comes as players like Dorial Green-Beckham, David Cobb, Tre McBride, Bishop Sankey, Hakeem Nicks, Harry Douglas and Shonn Greene will be competing to contribute this year.

The Titans are expecting their offense to be much better, as players like Dorial Green-Beckham, David Cobb and Tre McBride will have the chance to contribute behind veterans. The team felt getting Green-Beckham in the second round was great value, as many saw him as a top 10 draft pick, but he slipped due to off the field issues. Cobb is coming in as one of the most productive backs in college football last season, while McBride has been praised for his route running and ball catching ability by Whisenhunt.

According to NFL.com, the Titans may push Cobb to start after the way Bishop Sankey played last season, as he is a big back and can run things up the middle better than Sankey. The team has depth at running back with Shonn Greene and Dexter McCluster, but there is a chance one of those backs doesn't make it out of training camp. Getting a consistent rushing attack will be big for Mariota if he starts right away, as that will help take some of the pressure off the passing game.

The Titans made some solid additions to the WR group along with Green-Beckham, signing both harry Douglas and Hakeem Nicks as free agents. While those players are not superstars, they don't have to be for the Titans, as the team has Justin Hunter and Kendall Wright as the starters anyway. As long as those players contribute as third or fourth options the Titans will be pleased and if they end the season combining for 40-70 catches, it will be a success for the team.

Mariota had a strong season with Oregon while winning the Heisman trophy and he could sign his contract ahead of OTA workouts for the team. According to the CBS Sports, Whisenhunt said that he was "pleased" with the work Mariota did in rookie minicamp and Jim Wyatt on Twitter reported that Mariota will have the "majority" of first team snaps in offseason workouts. The titans won just two games last season and while Mettenberger had his moments, the future is now for the franchise.
