The Dallas Cowboys may look at adding another running back this offseason, as the team could look at Chris Johnson on the free agent market along with an Adrian Peterson trade or deals for Matt Forte or Doug Martin, as the team has Darren McFadden coming in to start ahead of Joseph Randle and Jerry Jones could look at adding more after DeMarco Murray left for the Eagles.

The Cowboys came into the draft with running back as a major need, but the team bucked the majority opinions of scouts and did not take a running back. According to ESPN.com, both Jason Garrett and Jerry Jones have said that the team is satisfied with their running backs on the roster, but Jones added that the team is always looking to improve. The team allowed Murray to leave in free agency and they replaced him essentially with a combination of Darren McFadden and Joseph Randle.

According to Fox Sports, Jones has not closed the door on making a trade for a running back, as he said that the team would consider it if the "the right situation came along". Jones said that he would be reluctant to give up a 2016 first round draft pick in a deal, but that the team could "go for it" if the situation fit, as Tony Romo is getting older and this team is well-established right now.

The article also points out that based on this draft in 2015, Jones could be more willing to trade a high pick, as the team added some very talented prospects this year. The article posits that Jones could consider making a deal with a first round pick, as the team basically got three first round players with one pick this year. Matt Forte is dealing with a contract issue and could be a target, as the Bears just took Jeremy Langford in the draft.

Byron Jones was taken in the first round, Randy Gregory was taken in the second after slipping due to off the field issues and the team signed La'el Collins as an undrafted free agent. All three players are considered first round talents and that could spark a move by Jones.  The team allowed Murray to leave for a number of reasons, but one of the main reasons was the fact that the offensive line has been so strong for the past couple years. The team feels the current backs can be successful with that line.

The idea of trading a first round pick opens up some avenues for the Cowboys, as they could try and pry Adrian Peterson from the Vikings or look at players like Doug Martin or Matt Forte, as they could end up being trade bait for their teams. The Vikings appear ready to keep Peterson and they may want more than a first round pick, which could lead the team to work elsewhere. Forte is coming into the final year of his contract and could be a target if he holds out for the Bears, while Martin was placed on the trade block last year and that could happen again.
