The NY Red Bulls and NYCFC are playing on the MLS schedule on Sunday night and the matchup from New York has NYC FC visiting Red Bull Arena in New Jersey and it will be on Fox Sports 1 and streaming from FS1 on the Fox Sports Go website for the first matchup between the two teams and Major League Soccer is hoping that it turns into a major rivalry.

The first Hudson River Derby has the Red Bulls coming in at fourth place on the league table, while NYCFC is in eighth place. The Red Bulls have three wins in eight games this season with 13 points, while FC has one win and six points in nine games played. The Revolution are in first place in the league standings, while DC United and Columbus are next ahead of NY.

The Red Bulls have not won three matches and they have two draws and a loss in that time. This will be the first time these teams play and New York City FC comes in not having won a match in eight games and they are trying to bounce back against their geographic rivals. The teams play again in June at Yankee Stadium and they will have a second matchup later in the summer in August back at Red Bull Arena.

New York City FC has been up and down to start the season and they are looking for their second win of the year. The team opened the season with a good game against Orlando before winning its first game at home against the New England Revolution. The team has not been able to win since then, with the club pulling a scoreless draw and then a loss against Sporting KC in the second game they had at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

The Union won over New York next and the team pulled a draw with Philly in the home and home before losing to the Timbers in the Bronx. The Chicago Fire won over NYCFC next and then the team hosted the Sounders, also falling in that game 3-1 and now they face the Red Bulls. The MLS would love both teams to be in the mix, but that is tough for a new franchise, even with a star like David Villa playing in the Bronx.

NYCFC has a matchup with Real Salt Lake coming next before playing the Houston Dynamo and after that they have the Union on the road again. The team plays against Montreal in the Bronx and then the team will play against Toronto FC before hosting the Red Bulls at home. The team then travels to Montreal before playing at home against Toronto and on the road against the Revolution.
