The New York City FC and Seattle Sounders are playing live on the Major League Soccer schedule on Sunday as NYCFC hosts the MLS match from Yankee Stadium and things start at 7 pm ET from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx and will be on Fox Sports 1 and streaming on the Fox Sports Go website as David Villa leads his team into action against Clint Dempsey.
NYCFC has not played against the Sounders before and the team comes in after being winless over the last six matches. The new team is currently eighth in the Eastern conference and they are looking to get a win on the board after a tough stretch of games. The team lost to the Chicago Fire the last time out and they also fell 1-0 to the Portland Timbers.
New York City will next play against the NY Red Bulls on the schedule after this matchup against the Sounders and that will also be the first meeting for the teams. NYC opened the season with a draw against Orlando and they won against the New England Revolution for the first game at Yankee Stadium, but after that they have not been able to get another W. The team has four losses and three draw this season and they have six points and come in tied with the Union in the standings.
The Sounders won two straight games for the first time this season and they won over Portland 1-0 at home last week. Clint Dempsey has been off to a very strong start and he comes in looking to keep up his points streak after putting in at least one in the games he has played this season. NYCFC have lost two games by getting shut out and the Sounder have Columbus and Vancouver after this game.
David Villa will try and get things going for New York and Dempsey could be the key for Seattle getting another win, this one coming cross country. Yankee Stadium has not proven to be the most ideal pitch for matches this season, but New York has won once there already and would love to add another victory on Sunday night. New York has proven to be a team that doesn't give up, as they have scored twice already in the final minutes of games.
