The NY Giants and Eli Manning have not had contract extension talks recently and a deal is unlikely ahead of the NFL draft and this comes as the team is dealing with the JPP contract and could look at Bryce Petty, Brandon Scherff, Landon Collins, Ereck Flowers, Kevin White and Randy Gregory as potential options in the first round for GM Jerry Reese.

The Giants are coming into the offseason after going just 6-10 and they are looking to add an impact player in the draft. Last season the team took Odell Beckham with their first round pick and he made an immediate impact once he took the field. Reese often likes to take the "best available" player at his pick and this year there are some names that could be on the board that fit in well.

Most mock drafts have the Giants taking Brandon Scherff, as they need help on the offensive line, but names like Kevin White, Dante Fowler and Landon Collins also could be options. According to Dan Graziano at ESPN, if Scherff is there at number nine, the Giants likely will take him. The team could consider moving from Scherff if players like Kevin White or Amari Cooper are available, but right now it looks like those players will be off the board.

Dan Graziano at ESPN.com writes that the team is very interested in Ereck Flowers and he could be the target if he is available and Scherff is gone. The team has needs all over the place and there is a good chance they go offensive line or defensive line in the first round. Collins is the best safety, but Jerry Reese may not see him as a top 10 pick and that likely will be how he judges whether to take him that high or not.

Eli Manning and the Giants have not reached a contract extension yet, but the two sides have both said that they are comfortable where things are right now. The team may wait until after the season and Manning said that he was okay with playing out his deal. The Giants likely will retain Manning, but they are allowing his future to be a bit up in the air until that happens.

Manning had a bounce back season after a dreadful 2013 and now he has Victor Cruz and Odell Beckham ready to take the field together. The giants have the number nine pick in the draft and there is a chance that they could trade down depending on how the first few picks play out.
