The Philadelphia Eagles are set to sign free agent Tim Tebow on Monday and the news comes after Chip Kelly worked him out for the team last month and it could signal that the team will push a trade for Matt Barkley at some point this offseason.

According to Fox Sports, Jay Glazer reports that the Eagles will sign Tebow on Monday and it comes after he previously was with the New York Jets and New England Patriots. Tebow started his career with the Denver Broncos and was eventually traded to the Jets and now he will join his former teammate Mark Sanchez in Philadelphia. Tebow may end up as the third quarterback if Matt Barkley is traded or released, which has been reported on as a possibility this offseason.

Glazer reports that the Eagles will sign Tebow to a contract on Monday and it likely will be a short term contract. The Eagles have Sanchez back after re-signing him in the offseason, while Sam Bradford is the first quarterback on the depth chart. Barkley was drafted before last season and he has not played much for the Eagles. Sanchez was the starter last season with Nick Foles injured and Barkley only played in on game.

The Eagles offseason program is starting up in Philadelphia this week and that could be why the Eagles brought in Tebow now. As Pro Football Talk points out, the team may not be ready to trade Barkley unless the team takes a player in the draft (ie Mariota), as there will be "plenty" of room on the roster. The team has Bradford dealing with rehab from his ACL injury and that could put Tebow and Barkley behind Sanchez during the offseason workouts.

According to NBC Washington's Dianna Marie Russini, Barkley is on the trade block and the team could consider releasing him if a trade doesn't happen. The team is signing Tebow and earlier in the offseason Russini reported that there was an "80 percent chance" Tebow would sign with the team as a free agent. Barkley may not necessarily be traded, but if Tebow sticks around, it's likely Kelly will get rid of one quarterback. The team has also had reported interest in Marcus Mariota in the draft.
