The Chicago Cubs are calling up prospect Kris Bryant to the major league team on Friday and he will bat in the number four spot after starting the season at Triple-A Iowa and his first game will be at Wrigley Field against the Padres.

Bryant's demotion to the minors this spring came with some controversy, as many felt he was ready to start the year with the Cubs. By keeping Bryant in the minors for 12 days, the team gets control of him for an extra year, making the move a formality. According to Patrick Mooney of CSNChicago.com, the team opted to bring up Bryant on Friday and they have moved Mike Olt to the disabled list to make room for him on the roster.

Bryant was one of the best players in the minors last year and is considered to be the best prospect in baseball. The team now has control over Bryant through the 2021 season and he previously led the minors in home runs last year with 43. Bryant led the majors in spring training in home runs and now he is on his way to the major league club.

Bryant is just 23 years old and he comes in after putting up three home runs and 10 RBIs in first seven games in the minors. Bryant also hit a home run in his final at-bat with Iowa and he likely hopes that is how he will end his minor league career. Fantasy baseball owners should jump all over the Cubs third base prospect.

From Bryant on Twitter: "Today I got to tell my family that my dream is coming true. Can't really put into words what that feels like. So excited for this journey!"
