The East Carolina Pirates and Florida Gators are playing in the Birmingham Bowl on the college football bowl schedule and the matchup starts at 12 pm noon ET and is on TV from ESPN and is streaming online from the WatchESPN website.
East Carolina had the better record over Florida and this matchup will be from Legion Field in Alabama and has the Pirates coming in with one of the top quarterbacks in the nation in Shane Carden. This season Carden had over 4300 yards passing with 28 touchdowns this season and he could be a top draft pick into the NFL eventually and now he has the chance to win over the Gators.
Carden comes in after passing for nearly 400 yards in the last game for East Carolina, which was a loss against UCF. The team now plays the Gators and they ended the season winning two of their final three matchups. The team averaged nearly 40 points this season and ranked 15th in the nation and they were also third in passing yards per game. The team averaged 367 passing yards per game with Carden and he will have the chance to put up some numbers in this bowl matchup.
The Pirates started the season 6-1 before losing two in a row to Temple and Cincinnati and now they matchup with a 6-5 Gators team. The Gators ranked 20th in the nation in points against this season and they averaged 30 points per game and they will be looking to end things on a positive note. The team ended the season with a loss to Florida State and they lost two of the final three games of the season. The Gators hung tight with the Seminoles and won over Georgia, but they had another down season.
