The Texas Longhorns and Kansas Jayhawks are playing on the Fox Sports 1 college football schedule as the Big 12 conference play gets going and the matchup will be from Lawrence Stadium in Lawrence and comes on TV from FS1 as Charlie Strong leads his team into a road matchup following a close loss against UCLA at home.
Texas comes into the game at 1-2 on the season after losing to the Bruins at home last week and that was a big matchup for the team and now they are in a stretch when they have to play a number of ranked teams. Texas has already played on top 15 team and now they have two in three weeks and those could be huge for the team this season. Texas opened up with North Texas and BYU before playing to UCLA and that last game was very close after the Longhorns were blown out by Brigham Young.
The Longhorns have a long stretch of games at home to start the season overall and apart from the Red River shootout and after playing against Kansas they will have their next real road game at the end of October. Tyrone Swoopes had nearly 200 yards in the game against the Bruins and he has been asked to step up with David Ash done and the Longhorns struggling.
The schedule has the Jayhawks ahead of the matchup with Baylor and that is the first of two straight top 10 opponents with Oklahoma next after that. The matchup with Oklahoma is a huge one for Strong and the team has Iowa State on the schedule at home before playing two straight against Kansas State and Texas Tech. The team has three road games in four weeks with West Virginia coming after the Texas Tech game and then they have Oklahoma State before finishing against TCU to end the season.
