The Fresno State Bulldogs and New Mexico Lobos are playing live on the ESPN college football schedule and the game is live from ESPN2 on TV and from the WatchESPN website online at 8 pm ET from University Stadium and the matchup has the Dogs looking to keep things going after three straight losses and a win to start the season as the Mountain West conference schedule gets going.
The Bulldogs come in looking to keep their winning ways going after getting a victory against Southern Utah and that followed three straight losses against tough teams. The Fresno State side has given up a ton of points, allowing over 50 in the first three losses before scoring 50 themselves and they will be looking to keep things going on Friday night. The team lost Derek Carr to the NFL after he passed for over 4000 yards and tons of TDs with the team and now they have to find a way to get it done without him.
Quarterback Brian Burrell will be key for the team and he has been strong with 570 yards and five touchdowns and he will need to have another strong game to get the win here. The team has a pretty tough schedule and the Bulldogs are expecting to be contenders in this conference, which makes the start of the season tough to swallow.
The team had USC and Utah to open the season and then they lost big to Nebraska and that was home after the first two away matchups and now they face off against New Mexico. The team has a stretch of three road games in four weeks, with San Diego State next and then UNLV and Boise State. The team then has Wyoming and San Jose State ahead of playing Nevada and that game is always tough against the Wolfpack. The team ends the season with a game against Hawaii and that will be at home and they are looking to get their defense back in order after giving up so many points over the first three games.
Fresno State was one of the highest scoring teams in the nation last season and losing Carr obviously hurts that and now they are hoping that Burrell can keep up solid play as they rebuild a bit. The team comes in looking to start off fast on the road in this game and New Mexico comes in after a close win against New Mexico State and now they play against Fresno and down the line on the schedule are tough games against Air Force and UNLV and that starts a stretch of four games on the road in five matchups.
