The Detroit Tigers and Minnesota Twins are playing live on the MLB schedule on Wednesday and the game starts up past 8:10 pm ET and has David Price on the mound for the Tigers as they try and keep their lead in the AL Central and they are trying to keep pace with the Kansas City Royals, who are chasing them in the standings.
In other action, the NY Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays are playing live on the MLB schedule on Wednesday from Tropicana Field and the AL East matchup comes after Joe Girardi got heated at TB for hitting some Yanks players and now the matchup at 7:10 pm ET could have emotions running high as Brandon McCarthy takes on Alex Cobb.
The Yankees are heated for a number of reasons and one was because the Rays hit them multiple times already and also because they are fading from wild card contention. The team has been dealing with tons of injuries this season and now they have the chance to try and hang tight, but with the Mariners winning while they lost on Tuesday, they are another game back. The Yankees offense has not been good and while Brett Gardner and Jacoby ellsbury have been strong, they have not been enough for the team.
The Yankees have been a total mess and while the Derek Jeter farewell tour has been great, he has not been so great and he is one reason why they are not in the playoffs. Jeter has been good for his age at his position, but as a number two hitter all year the Yankees have been hurting and that is one reason why the lineup could never get going. The team is about to start a series with the Blue Jays and it will have Shane Greene against RA Dickey in the pitching matchup.
