The New York Giants are experiencing some growing pains on offense under new coordinator Ben McAdoo. The evidence was prominent in the team's first game against the Detroit Lions. Quarterback Eli Manning and his receivers never appeared to be on the same page during the night and the ground game failed to get much going to help out. In need of a major bounce back week, McAdoo is confident that improvement will come the more the players spend time in the new system.

"The encouraging thing is they are different mistakes," McAdoo said, via NJ.com. "Guys are very young, they are very approachable, they want to be corrected, they want to learn. You have a chance to go out, you talk to them, they make a mistake. Listen every day to the same thing over and over. You go out, you teach. We come out, we practice. We make mistakes, we correct the mistakes, then you go on to the next day. The encouraging thing is you are not making the same mistakes every day. Now we just haven't been doing it very long together. We need to speed up the process and make less mistakes so when we get in the game, we take advantage and we can execute better. There are definitely signs that things are starting to click. We do have chemistry."

Everyone appears to have a difference in opinion as to how to fix the Giants' offense. According to both Victor Cruz and Rueben Randle, they simply need the ball more. Despite being the No. 1 receiver on the roster, Cruz had just six targets, catching two for 2 yards. He notes that as a receiver, he always wants the ball in order to make an impact.

"I think in order for us to be successful, there needs to be an increased number of targets in my direction," Cruz said, via the New York Daily News. "And in other playmakers' directions. Just like Rueben Randle as well, in my opinion. But that all comes with the continuity, that comes with getting the running game going, that comes with building what we want to build as the game continues."

Manning is not concerned about the state of the offense. The transition to a West Coast style has clearly thrown off the unit's previous dynamics, but the quarterback believes the New York is improving with every practice. Manning completed 54.5 percent of his passes against the Detroit Lions. That was the ninth time in the past two seasons that his completion percentage has dipped below 55 percent, but he believes the passing game is getting into a better rhythm and the fans will see a better team on Sunday.

"I felt my rhythm in the passing game, in the pocket, was better than it's been all season, so I feel good about that," Manning said, via ESPN.com. "Just gotta keep that going, and hopefully be able to make some plays."
