The Buffalo Bills may look at a CJ Spiller trade this season after not being able to agree on a contract extension and the Oakland Raiders could be interested, as Maurice Jones-Drew and Darren McFadden could end up as busts for the team and fantasy football owners if they get injured and other teams like the NY Giants, Cleveland Browns and Miami Dolphins could be interested in a deal at the deadline.

Spiller is a huge part of the offense for the Bills but they have given themselves some insurance with the moves they made this off-season. The team traded for Bryce Brown with the Philadelphia Eagles for a draft pick and Buffalo also gave Fred Jackson a one-year contract extension to keep him through next season. Jackson and Spiller are a great one two punch in the backfield for Buffalo but the team has an option with Brown now if they need to trade Spiller at any point this season.

Spiller is an explosive running back and he could be a huge addition to any offense if he gets traded this season. Last season Spiller had a down year compared to two years ago, but many teams would be thrilled with the production he had. Spiller is a dual threat running back and he can make catches out of the backfield and break one off through the middle. The Bills need his explosiveness, but they also run the risk of losing him as a free agent and getting nothing in return apart from compensation from the league.

Spiller has been healthy since coming into the NFL and he is looking to have a bounce back year after decreasing his numbers last season. Spiller had less rushing yards, receptions, touchdowns and rushing yards compared to the season before and while he still put up solid numbers, he needs to do better this season. Spiller was electric two years ago, going for over 1200 yards and adding 43 catches for another 459 yards, but lusty season he was down to 933 and 185 yards receiving. Spiller was also less explosive, going for four yards per carry compared to six the year before.

The Raiders could actually be a good fit, as they have a number of extra draft picks and they also have an aging backfield with Maurice Jones-Drew and Darren McFadden. Drew and McFadden could play above expectations this year, but with the history of those two players, chances are at least one of them will get injured at some point during the season.

The Raiders are coming into the season after going 4-12 the past two seasons and they are looking to bounce back this year. The team has tabbed Derek Carr to be the starter and he needs everyone to step up and both Darren McFadden and Jones-Drew need to be consistent for the team to win this season. Both players have injury issues and McFadden has a ton to prove and if they can play well, Carr and the Raiders could at least finish with a better record than last season.
