The MLB standings for the 2014 season in the AL and NL are getting very tight as September picks up and teams like the Baltimore Orioles, Kansas City Royals, Detroit Tigers, LA Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals, Oakland Athletics, Los Angeles Angels, San Francisco Giants, Milwaukee Brewers and Seattle Mariners are in the division lead or wild card contention with less than 30 games to go.

The AL East has the Baltimore Orioles leading the NY Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays by a wide margin, while the Kansas City Royals are leading the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central for the time being. The LA Angels are now in first place in the AL West all of a sudden and they are leading the Athletics by over four games and have a big lead on the Mariners.

The Washington Nationals are leading the NL East by a wide margin, while the St. Louis Cardinals are tops in the NL Central after taking over the Brewers. The NL West has the Dodgers leading the Giants, but they have pulled back into the race as of late.

The American League wild card has the Oakland Athletics in first over the Detroit Tigers, while the Mariners, Indians and Yankees are also in the mix. The NL wild card race is also close and has the Giants and Brewers leading the Pirates and the Braves.
