Sam Bradford #8 of the St. Louis Rams is tended to after suffering a season-ending injury during an NFL preseason game against the Cleveland Browns at FirstEnergy Stadium on August 23, 2014 in Cleveland, Ohio."

Sam Bradford is out for the season after suffering another ACL knee injury and now the St. Louis Rams may look at a trade for Mark Sanchez, Christian Ponder or Ryan Mallett to take over, as the team has Shaun Hill as their backup quarterback and now he could be the starter over rookie Garrett Gilbert, who the team took in the sixth round of the draft.

According to ESPN.com, Bradford initially hoped that the injury was not serious, but testing showed that he injured the ACL in his left knee again and now he will be out for the season. Bradford dealt with an injury to the same knee last season and it came on a pass attempt and hit by Cleveland's Armonty Bryant in the game on Saturday night. Bradford was coming back from the same injury and had felt good through the summer and in the preseason.

Bradford knew right away it was his knee and Hill came into the game for him and ended up two for six in the matchup while passing for 45 yards. Hill has 13 starts with the Niners and Lions in his career and now he will be next in line unless the team makes a trade. Adding someone like Sanchez may take a high pick, as the Eagles love what he has been doing and looks very comfortable in the Chip Kelly offense. Sanchez could be an option since he used to work with offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, but the Rams may not want to give up a pick for a rental player.

USA Today reports that Sanchez is not looking to be traded to the Rams right now, as he has been playing well for the Eagles and has been very good in the Kelly offense. Sanchez is starting to have a resurgence in his career and there is a chance he will get a start or two this season with the Eagles, as Philly has had a backup start in each of the past five seasons. Nick Foles has been great, but he could use a solid backup and the Eagles may not want to deal Sanchez despite how well he is playing, which would inflate his value.

Sanchez comes in after going 11 of 12 for 117 yards and two touchdowns, while in the last game he was 7 for 9 for 85 yards and he has been very accurate this preseason. Christian Ponder and Ryan Mallett are other targets and the Patriots have been looking to deal Mallett so that they can give Jimmy Garoppolo a chance to be the backup. The Rams may stick with Hill and they also have the chance to sign players since there will be major cut downs this week as rosters go down to regular size.

Bradford signed a mega deal before entering the league as the last rookie class before the new CBA, so he has the cash money, but now he is out for another season. The future with the Rams is up in the air and now St. Louis has to find a new starter and next season they may look to do that in the draft. The team nearly picked Johnny Manziel at number two this year in the draft and that would have been a smart move looking back now.
