The NY Knicks have made some trades already this offseason and now names like Iman Shumpert, JR Smith, Amar'e Stoudemire or Pablo Prigioni could be moved this year and New York could be looking to position themselves for Greg Monroe, Marc Gasol or LaMarcus Aldridge in free agency next year as Phil Jackson tries to build a contender in the Big Apple around Carmelo Anthony.

According to ESPN.com, the team has shopped a number of trades this season to help breakup the logjam at certain positions, including with Prigioni, JR Smith and Iman Shumpert. The Knicks have moves they can make this season and they would love it if someone took Stoudemire's contract, but that likely will not be happening since no one will want to take on that cash. The team is looking to move at least one guard and that should help open things up and Prigioni could be the one to go, as the team may want to keep Shane Larkin since he is much younger.

According to the NY Post, the Knicks could look at Gasol and Greg Monroe next summer in free agency, as they will have more money to spend. Monroe is coming into this season with the chance to be an unrestricted free agent if he signs the qualifying offer and reports say that he will do that with the Detroit Pistons.

The team traded Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton to the Mavericks and got back Larkin along with Jose Calderon and Samuel Dalembert and that gives the Knicks some options on the bench as well. The team drafted Cleanthony Early in the second round this year in the draft and this could be a solid move for Carmelo Anthony, as Early can be a player to back him up. Anthony is a scorer and he said that he is prepared to get used to the triangle offense and he thinks that Jackson and Fisher can help things immensely.

The Knicks are coming into the season after having a terrible year and now they have the chance to start over and put that behind them with a new head coach and head exec. Carmelo is back on a five year deal and he will be the centerpiece of the franchise and while many say that teams can't win with him as the star player, he has the chance to now prove everyone wrong in that regard. Anthony admitted this season that

The Knicks pulled off another trade with the Sacramento Kings and they moved Wayne Ellington along with Jeremy Tyler and received Travis Outlaw and Quincy Acy in return. The move gives the Knicks more flexibility at the forward position and it also allows Anthony to have another backup to come in and play minutes when he is on the bench.
