The British Open Championship 2014 leaderboard is live for the final round with Rory McIlroy in position to win in the lead and the live coverage is on ESPN and on WatchESPN with a live stream online on Sunday for Round 4 and the tournament at Royal Liverpool could see some history with McIlroy having the biggest lead since Tiger Woods did it over a decade ago.

McIlroy is six shots ahead of Rickie Fowler heading into the final day and Sergio Garcia is in third place and the Saturday session saw Fowler and McIlroy shot four under. McIlroy had a 66 in both the first and second round and then shot a 68 in the third and now he is in position to win another major. Woods faded out after a solid first round and that is in line with what he has done here before and now the PGA Championship will be the next chance for him to get a major. Woods has not won a major in quite some time and now McIlroy may help his father win a bet if he can close things out on Sunday.

Fowler has had a fantastic weekend and Garcia also has played well and now they are looking to try and make a historic comeback, while Dustin Johnson is also tied at third. Adam Scott is in seventh on the leaderboard along with Jim Furyk and they lead a group that hs Darren Clarke and Justin Rose. McIlroy was four under and ended up with a six shot lead and now he had the chance to win three majors and that would be massive and would put him in line with Woods again.

Woods has struggled in the later rounds this year and at the Open and he was able to hang on after just missing on missing the cut following the second round and he came into Sunday with a 73 on the day and was nearly 20 shots out of the lead. The British Open is usually one of the tougher majors on the schedule and this year the Royal Liverpool course has it's challenges, including some very tough greens and long fairways in some spots. The first round had great weather and now the players are looking for that to stay through the tournament.

Woods started off his tournament better than expected after a three under par and that put him in solid position heading into the second round. Woods opened with two bogeys, but he was able to recover and had a mostly clean round the rest of the way and he is looking to remain in contention heading into the weekend. Rory McIlroy had a very solid start and he was leading things once he finished the first round and that came after playing in the Scottish Open. Woods started off well but had an up and down day in the second round and that is in line with what Woods has done at the tournament over the past five years.
