The NY Mets appear to be sellers once again at the trading deadline and names like Daniel Murphy, Bartolo Colon and Zack Wheeler could be on the move, as the Atlanta Braves, LA Dodgers, Seattle Mariners, NY Yankees, Baltimore Orioles and St. Louis Cardinals could be looking at those players, while New York could be eyeing one themselves in Starlin Castro with the Chicago Cubs.

According to ESPN.com and writer Adam Rubin, the Mets have made pitcher Bartolo Colon available in trade talks this season after signing him to a deal over the winter. This season Colon has even solid for the Mets, going 8-8 and putting up a 3.99 ERA in 18 starts and now the team can try and slip him for a solid bat or prospect, as they have enough pitching to get through the rest of the season with Jonathon Niese, Zack Wheeler, Dillon Gee and Jacob deGrom. Matt Harvey will be back next year and that gives the team a strong rotation even without Colon. The team also has other players in the minors, including Noah Syndergaard and Rafael Montero.

The NY Post reported about a potential trade option for the Mets with the Chicago Cubs, writing that the team could jump in on Starlin Castro now that Addison Russell is there. Newsday reports that the Cubs may be moving Castro to third base and that would change things, but Castro said he is not letting any trade talk bother him this season. The Mets have been mostly terrible on offense apart from some bright spots and they are five games under .500 and teetering on contending and collapse and the next two weeks could signal what the team ultimately does in trades.

The Mets have been up and down all season and they are within seven games of a wild card spot and while that is far, it's not far enough to declare the season over, especially after they played well coming into the break. The Mariners have shown interest in Colon, as the team is in need of more starting pitching and that could be an option for the Mets. The team has long been interested in upgrading at shortstop and the team has Nick Franklin in the minors behind Brad Miller and that could be a potential deal as well.

The NY Post first reported about the possible trade between the Mets and the Cubs and it followed the Oakland Athletics deal that sent Addison Russell to Chicago. The team now has a top 10 prospect at shortstop and that could lead the team to trade Castro at some point, as they don't have as much pitching as they do hitting. The Mets have that exact opposite problem with names like Wheelers, Jacob DeGrom and Noah Syndergaard and that could give the team an opening to make a deal, even though they love what Wheeler does.
