The World Cup 2014 group table standings has match results and the points leaders in Brazil in Group A tied with Mexico after winning thier first games and getting a draw and now Spain is eliminated after losing to Chile and the Netherlands is now into the knockout stage as well after winning against Australia and that has the first teams advancing to the knockout round.

Thursday and Friday and now Spain, Netherlands, Chile Australia, Cameroon and Croatia have results as the schedule moves into the weekend for the tournament. Spain and Netherlands played a rematch of the last World Cup finals, while Mexico had two goals waved off in the game and still managed to win. The refereeing has been very bad so far and two offside calls were wrong in the Mexico match, a red card was not given in the Spain match when Diego Costa went at a player and in Brazil's match a controversial call came on a penalty.

Check here for the group standings and World Cup table heading into the weekend.

Mexico ended up winning their first match against Cameroon and the score for that was 1-0 nothing in Group A and that came despite two goals getting waved off for El Tri. Mexico and Brazil now are tied atop the Group A standings and they matchup coming up and Mexico is 0-3 against Brazil and that will be a major matchup to see who ends up moving out of that group.

Mexico and Cameroon opened the day with their match from Natal and after that was Spain taking on the Netherlands in an anticipated match and that was a rematch of the 2010 World Cup final, which was won by the Spanish national team. The rematch of the finals is something rare in World Cup play and it coming this early is also very rare and it happened because the ditch team fell off a bit since the last World Cup, while Spain was able to stay atop or near the top of the rankings and they also come in after winning the Euros in 2012 and they are trying for another unprecedented championship.

Here is more on Chile and Australia and other games over the weekend:

Chile and Australia are playing live on the World Cup schedule on Friday and the game is streaming online from ESPN2, ESPN and the WatchESPN website from Cuiaba and the game starts at 6 pm ET in Group B from Arena Pantanal and it is a huge match early on for both sides and the Socceroos after Spain and the Netherlands opened play among the draw and this comes after Brazil opened the tournament with a victory.

Chile comes in as one of the under the radar teams and they could be a surprise team in this group and they will try and take advantage after the Spain and Netherlands matchup. The Socceroos come in as the underdogs and they will need a great performance to get the win and if they somehow pull the upset, they could be a major spoiler in this Cup. Chile has a strong frontline and that will be the main focus for both teams as this match gets started up and Chile will be looking to stay aggressive for the game.

The game is on Univision and CBC and the game will be a tough battle in the middle and the Aussies have a chance to make some noise and surprise everyone.

The Netherlands played a tough match in 2010 and Spain took some big hits from that and the Dutch changed things up after that game and now the rematch from South America comes here. The Orange and Spain are playing and that is a huge matchup and the Dutch play with three center backs and five midfielders and that is a different type of matchup and structure and the game could be won there on the wide areas and it will be big for teams to get shots into the middle and spreading things out could help, as Spain comes in favored.
