The NBA Playoffs schedule picks up on TV from ABC on Thursday for Game 1 between the Miami Heat and the San Antonio Spurs on ABC and WatchESPN starting up at 9 pm ET from AT&T Arena and LeBron James is looking for his third straight championship and finals MVP, while Tim Duncan and the Spurs are looking to cap off a decade run of success.
The Miami Heat made it into their fourth straight finals and that marked the first time a team has done that since the 1980s when the Boston Celtics and LA Lakers did it and now James is looking to match players that have three-peated in the past. The Spurs have been thinking about this matchup for a year since losing last season in Game 7 and now Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili are trying to add a cap to their run of championships against the Big 3 of the Heat.
Miami won in a sweep over the Charlotte Bobcats in the first round in four games and they had an easy series in the second round with the Brooklyn Nets, winning that in five games. The Heat continued their strong play in the series against the Indiana Pacers, winning three straight games after dropping the opening matchup and now they are looking to start off with a road win in the finals. The Pacers series went six, but the fifth game had Miami lose by only three and the sixth game was a total blowout for the Heat and now they are trying to finish off the three-peat.
The Spurs come into the finals after playing against the Dallas Mavericks in the first round and that series went back and forth before San Antonio won and then the team made quick work against the Portland Trail Blazers to advance to the western conference finals. The Spurs played against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the conference finals and won that series in Game 6 after it went into overtime. The Spurs lost in seven games last season after allowing the Ray Allen shot in game 6 and all San Antonio has been thinking about is a rematch with James.
Game 1 of the series starts on Thursday at 9 pm on ABC before a two day break and then things picks up on Sunday, June 8 with Game 2 at 8 pm and that will also be on ABC. Things shift to Miami on Tuesday, June 10 and that will be in South Beach at American Airlines Arena for Game 3 and that starts at 9 pm on ABC.
